Minister for Youth and Young Families
Alicia approaches each day as an opportunity to grow in her ministry of educating and journeying with young people and helping them to become who God created them to be in their faith journey. Alicia has served as Minister for Youth and Young Families since 2008 with a focus to organize, design and plan Sunday school curriculum and programs, youth group, youth and family retreats, confirmation classes, children and teens outreach programs and works in organizing other Christian Education events for children and adults. A yearly Vacation Bible School and other children’s programs are held during the summer each year.
Alicia works closely with the Minister and church community to address the needs of the church youth and young adults. Alicia works along with the Ministry team in planning weekly worship services and special events. With a passion for music she enjoys singing with the church choir in her free time. She is chair of Christian Life and Growth Committee of Saint John Presbytery where she has initiated planning and hosting youth events for the united churches in our area.
Alicia graduated from Atlantic School of Theology in May 2013 after completing the diploma in youth ministry and theology courses from St. Mary’s University in Halifax, Nova Scotia. She is presently serving as one of the chaplains for Maritime Conference Youth Forum and is co-founder of a new ministry initiative through Maritime Conference called BE.
Alicia keeps busy with her family, her husband Jamie and their two teenage children and is involved in many activities in the community. Alicia thoroughly enjoys ministering with the children and families at Saint David’s. While she does tend to see and lead a new way of being church, she also has a strong connection to the traditional roots and rich history of our denomination.
